Takahashi and Kozuka Collide in Grand Prix Final Practice

We can see in the first clip of the collision that Takahashi has a smile on his face almost immediately after hitting the ice, while poor Kozuka looks terrified and seems to make sure Daisuke is alright. Takahashi's music was playing so he has the right-of-way, but Takahiko obviously didn't do it intentionally. I think he'd wait until AFTER he was done rotating in the air if he was trying to be vicious ;-)

I don't know that I've ever seen a skater rotate RIGHT into someone in a crash. Usually they catch the other person out of the corner of their eye and the result is some wonky fall out to avoid a collision.

Luckily, both skaters are alright and will compete in the short program later tonight. Thanks to Yumiko on Facebook for the link!

According to another Japanese TV clip this moring, Daisuke commented that he could hear the audience's cry before the crash, so he was able to prepare for it, but was not able to avoid it. I just hope both of them are physically and mentally OK with this crash.

"Poor Kozuka"? I would say "poor DAISUKE". He was practically smashed to the ice..! Kozu, please be careful.

It is rather interesting that people seem to be more concerned about Kozuka's s mental state after the collision than Daisuke's physical state. Anyway, I hope that the collision did not do any damage to Daisuke's (still somewhat fragile) operated right knee..

Thank god that it's a publicly known fact that Japanese skaters are all on good and close terms with each other, Daisuke and Takahiko inclusive. If not, imagine all the uproar and backstabbings it would've caused between fans, and the needlessly excessive media reports...

I don't know though, it looked awfully painful on Dai's part, although I'm sure he'll never admit it publicly.

I said 'poor Kozuka' because he looked absolutely terrified even after Takahashi telling him two times that he was alright (watch his face as Daisuke skates away).

If anything, it looks like Daisuke got the wind knocked out of him for a few seconds. Hopefully that is the extent of it all.

Don't worry about Daisuke. According to asahi.com (source http://www.asahi.com/sports/spo/TKY201012100171.html, sorry this is in Japanese, though) he said he got hit his hips and right leg but he was fine, and then he was practicing quad after this accident. Takahiko was a kind of upset, however after this he was checking each elements quite well, and I saw he was watching JGPF ladies SP with Nobuo Sato.
Then, I add from asahi.com that Oda had the most amazing jumps like 4T-3T-3T at this practice. Watch out people, he is definitely wild card without presser.
